The Mediterranean's most celebrated sailing spectacle, held each September and October at the Nouveau Port of Saint-Tropez. Around 250 vessels — from historic classic boats to cutting-edge maxi yachts — compete in a spirit of fair play, while the vibrant onshore atmosphere transforms the iconic Riviera town into the world's sailing capital.

The origins of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez trace back to a spontaneous challenge in September 1981, known as the Nioulargue. This impromptu regatta between a Swan 44 and the 12-metre Ikra, initiated by Patrice de Colmont, director of Club 55, quickly evolved into a celebrated annual event. It fostered an exceptional alchemy, combining the thrill of high-level sailing with an innate sense of festivity and camaraderie among participants — a spirit that remains entirely intact today.

Officially organised by the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez since 1999, Les Voiles has grown to attract approximately 250 boats. The event is distinguished by its diverse fleet, which includes classic boats — some over a century old — alongside state-of-the-art maxi yachts and ultra-modern racing machines. This unique gathering upholds its founding principle: 'the most beautiful regattas on the water and the best atmosphere on land,' ensuring a vibrant experience both on and off the water.

Onshore, Saint-Tropez transforms into the social capital of the sailing world for ten days. The port fills with spectators, journalists, and yacht owners; the restaurants and beach clubs extend their seasons; and the nightly celebrations in the old town have a warmth and spontaneity that no other regatta can match. Yachts generally leave the harbour around 9 am and return from 3 pm — spectators can watch departures from the Molé Jean Réveille, the Citadelle, or the Chapelle Sainte-Anne, or join the fleet aboard a spectator vessel.
